Sizes overlap on purpose. Between two, the smaller rides more upright and the larger stretches you out. Every size shares a 435mm chain stay and a 50mm fork offset, so the handling stays the same across the range. The L and XL are preorders, shipping mid October.

Carbon All-Road Overview

The State Bicycle Co. Carbon All-Road v2 in Sidewinder Black with SRAM Rival AXS is the wireless version of the T800 carbon All-Road, in gloss black with orange STATE lettering and teal SBC logos. It is the same frame, with the same UDH hanger, T47 bottom bracket, 12mm thru axles and Fidlock storage box in the down tube, with the shift cables gone and the brakes gone fully hydraulic.

You choose the drivetrain. SRAM Rival XPLR AXS, thirteen speeds across 10 to 46T, or the Eagle Transmission Mullet, twelve speeds across 10 to 52T for $70 more. Both run a 42T direct mount crank and Rival E1 carbon levers with hydraulic discs, and both include the battery and charger. The standard wheels are State’s All-Road v2 alloy at $3,399.99; DT Swiss G1800 adds $450 and Zipp 303 XPLR S carbon adds $1,000.

Skip it if $1,000 is better spent elsewhere: the Sidewinder Black with State’s own 1x12 is the same frame with a cable drivetrain and hydro mechanical brakes for $2,399.99. And skip it if you want a bike that arrives ready to ride, because this one comes as boxed parts that need professional assembly.

Standards you can build on

A T47 threaded bottom bracket, 85.5mm, that threads out at home and does not creak the way press fit does. A Universal Derailleur Hanger any shop can order. 12mm thru axles, 12x100 front and 12x142 rear, flat mount brakes on 6 bolt 160mm rotors, a 27.2mm seatpost and a 31.8mm bar clamp.

A MODERN FRAME, NOTHING PROPRIETARY

The v2 frame is T800 carbon, 1,280g bare on a medium, on a 440g full carbon fork with a hollow 1.5 inch crown and a 12mm thru axle. Cables run inside the frame and fork and outside at the cockpit, so the bike stays clean and the bars stay easy to service.

The down tube carries a storage box with a Fidlock magnetic closure for a tube, tools and food, and the neoprene bag for it is in the box. There are extra mounts on the down tube, fork and top tube, and a molded plate covers the front derailleur mount when you run 1x, which every build here does.

TWO WIRELESS DRIVETRAINS, THREE WHEELSETS

Rival XPLR AXS is thirteen speeds across 10 to 46T on a SRAM Flat-Top chain with a Rival XPLR rear derailleur: smaller steps between gears for long, fast gravel days. The Eagle Transmission Mullet is twelve speeds across 10 to 52T on an S1000 T-Type derailleur and Eagle chain, a much lower bailout gear for big climbs and loaded bikepacking. Both use the 42T Rival XPLR E-Gen crank and ship with the battery and charger.

Wheels are the same three choices as the 1x12 build: State’s All-Road v2 32 spoke alloy as standard, DT Swiss G1800 Spline for $450 more, or Zipp 303 XPLR S hookless carbon, 54mm deep and 32mm wide inside, for $1,000 more.

Which drivetrain should I choose?

Rival XPLR AXS is thirteen speeds across 10 to 46T, so the steps between gears are smaller and your cadence stays steady on rolling terrain. The Eagle Transmission Mullet is twelve speeds across 10 to 52T, a much lower bailout gear for steep climbs and loaded bikepacking, for $70 more. Both are fully wireless on the same 42T crank and both include the battery and charger.

Which wheelset should I choose?

The standard State All-Road v2 wheels are 32 spoke double wall alloy, tubeless capable with tape, valves and sealant. DT Swiss G1800 Spline adds $450 for DT’s 370 hub and a rim that arrives taped and tubeless ready. Zipp 303 XPLR S adds $1,000 for a hookless carbon rim, 54mm deep and 32mm wide inside, built to run gravel tires at lower pressure. The frame is the same in every case.

What is different from the 1x12 Carbon All-Road?

The drivetrain and the brakes. This build is fully wireless SRAM AXS with Rival E1 carbon levers and full hydraulic disc brakes. The 1x12 build uses State’s own cable drivetrain and hydro mechanical brakes for $1,000 less. Frame, fork, wheels, cockpit and geometry are the same.

How wide a tire will it take?

State’s product page lists 700c up to 2.2 inch (55mm) and 650b up to 2.4 inch. Their spec sheet lists 700 x 58mm and 650b x 2.3 inch. This build is sold on 700c wheels with 50mm tubeless ready tires: State lists the Vittoria Terreno T50 and the Continental Terra Hardpack TR. There is no tire option at checkout, so ask us if you want to know which yours will ship on.

Does it come assembled?

No. Unless State’s Pro Build is added, it arrives as boxed parts and needs professional assembly before riding. State’s Pro Build assembles and safety checks it in Phoenix with the wireless drivetrain paired, calibrated and firmware updated, and adds one to two weeks. Ask us before you order if you want it. Pedals are not included.

What size should I get?

State lists the XS 49cm for riders 5 foot 1 to 5 foot 6, the S 52cm for 5 foot 5 to 5 foot 9, the M 54cm for 5 foot 8 to 5 foot 11, the L 56cm for 5 foot 10 to 6 foot 1, and the XL 58cm for 6 foot to 6 foot 4.
