Cyrusher Kommoda 3.0 Overview

The Cyrusher Kommoda 3.0 is a full suspension fat tire e-bike with the lowest step through frame Cyrusher makes: a 48V 750W rear hub motor with 1500W peak and a torque sensor, and a 48V 20Ah battery, 960Wh, sealed inside the down tube. Cyrusher rates it at 28 MPH and up to 68 miles.

A motorcycle style oil and spring fork and a 165mm air shock carry it over potholes, gravel and trail on 20 x 4 Arisun puncture resistant fat tires. Hydraulic disc brakes on 180mm rotors stop it, a Shimano 7 speed covers the climbs and a half twist throttle is there when you want to stop pedalling. It weighs 83 lb and carries 350 lb.

The frame steps through at 14.6 inches, so one size fits riders from 4'9" to 6'3". A headlight, brake light, horn, fenders and a rear rack come fitted. Want bigger 26 inch wheels on a step through? That is the Trax 2.0.

Built to be lived with

A 6061 aluminium step through frame with the battery inside, a 165mm air rear shock, a motorcycle style oil and spring fork, a 152mm forged 52T crank and 20 x 4 Arisun puncture resistant fat tires on alloy rims with 12 gauge stainless spokes.

A 3.7 inch colour display, half twist throttle, headlight, brake light, horn, fenders, rear rack, kickstand and sport saddle all come on the bike. The electrical system is UL 2849 and UL 2271 certified. Frame, motor and controller are covered for two years, battery and parts for one.

WALK IN, RIDE ANYWHERE

The Kommoda 3.0 frame drops to 14.6 inches at the step, the lowest of any Cyrusher we sell, so you walk into it rather than swing over it. The saddle sets from 30.3 to 38.9 inches and Cyrusher fits one size to riders from 4'9" to 6'3", which is the widest range in their line.

It is still a full suspension bike. A motorcycle style oil and spring fork sits over the front 20 x 4 fat tire and an air shock, 165mm and rated to 750 lb, carries the rear. The 6061 aluminium frame seals the 48V 20Ah battery inside the down tube and the whole bike is rated to carry 350 lb.

POWER THAT FOLLOWS YOUR FEET

The rear hub is a 48V 750W brushless motor with a 1500W peak. A torque sensor reads how hard you press on the pedals and adds power in proportion, so the bike feels like your own legs on a good day instead of a switch that is either on or off. A half twist throttle is there when you want to stop pedalling.

Five assist levels top out at 28 MPH. The 48V 20Ah battery charges in 6 to 7 hours on the 48V 3A charger and is rated for 800 cycles. Cyrusher sells the Kommoda 3.0 as Class 2 or 3, so where you can ride at the top end depends on your local rules.

Questions before buying

How far does it go on a charge?

Cyrusher quotes up to 68 miles from the 48V 20Ah, 960Wh battery and says 50 to 68 miles in real use. Rider weight, hills, wind, cold and assist level all bring it down, and riding on the throttle alone uses far more than pedal assist does.

Is 28 MPH legal?

Cyrusher lists the Kommoda 3.0 as Class 2 or 3, with 28 MPH reached in pedal assist level 5. In most US states that is legal on roads and many bike lanes, but paths and trails set their own limits. Check your state and local rules, especially where Class 3 bikes are kept off multi use paths.

What size is it?

One size, and it fits a wide range. Cyrusher lists riders from 4'9" to 6'3". The saddle sets from 30.3 to 38.9 inches off the ground, the step is 14.6 inches, reach is 19.7 inches, the handlebar sits 42.7 inches up, the wheelbase is 47 inches and the bike is 68.9 inches long.

Can I ride it in the rain?

Cyrusher rates it IP65, so rain and splashes are fine. Do not submerge it, and wipe it down after a wet ride to protect the electrics.

Does it arrive assembled?

Cyrusher ships it about 85 percent built, with the tools in the box. You fit the front wheel, handlebar, pedals and saddle, then check every bolt. Cyrusher says most people finish in 30 to 45 minutes and posts an assembly video.

I really like this bike. I get compliments on it everywhere I ride. The only gripe I have is the headlight. It is not very bright. I will most likely try to replace it or add a rechargeable. It is still worth 5 stars.

All that I hoped for

I’m going to be 70 this year. I’ve been a cyclist, primarily mountain bikes, my entire adult life. I bought this bike to help me exercise a troublesome knee & for a short commute. Figured at my age I deserve some comfort. I plan to become car free soon.

I live in the Pacific Northwest, in a city with lots of hills. I had tried my local e-bike retailer. I didn’t have much money to spend. I tested all of the bikes in my price range. The bikes that were powerful enough were too big for me. The bikes small enough for me didn’t have enough power for the steep hills.

I saw a review (many reviews, actually), for the Cyrusher Kommoda. One of the reviews that stood out was not made by a professional reviewer. Just a guy, a little older, a little fatter, taking the viewer along for a ride on his bike. I remember thinking that the guy was moving along at a pretty good clip. I liked the full suspension, the disk brakes, the step through, the sturdy rack & the fenders, which were included. I even liked the matching rims. Oh, and it’s orange. Yum.

The bike had come down in price (thank you!) so I ordered it. Assembly was easy. I can’t believe how fast it is, how easy to pedal up & over the steepest hills. The first thing I’ve replaced on all of my previous bicycles is the seat. The seat on my Cyrusher needs no replacing, I’m pleased to say.

Now I need to find a local e-bike mechanic to keep the thing well maintained, as I hope to ride my bike for years to come.

Very happy with choice

My husband and me bought cyrusher kommoda bikes. We love them !! Made a wonderful choice he is 62 and I am 60. Very comfortable to ride. I am 5'3" he is 5'10" the bikes fit us both. These bikes have everything we was looking for. I tried different styles but felt nervous on them . I had a mix-up on mirrors I bought and was so pleased cyrusher support was awesome taking care of it. Don't hesitate on these bikes you will be happy!!!
