What is not covered
Normal wear and tear on any bike: tires, tubes, chains, brake pads, grips, bar tape, saddles, spokes, and paint or cosmetic finish. Nor is crash and impact damage, improper assembly or adjustment, lack of maintenance, modifications, or incompatible parts. Shop labour is the rider’s responsibility under either tier. RAW finish steel frames are not covered against rust — that is the finish behaving as intended.

Six sizes, which is two more than most gravel bikes offer. Sizes overlap on purpose: between two, the smaller rides more upright and the larger stretches you out. Every size shares a 437mm chain stay and a 45mm fork offset, so the handling stays consistent across the range.

Titanium All-Road Overview

The State Bicycle Co. Titanium All-Road is a double butted Grade 9 3AL/2.5V titanium gravel bike at $2,499.99, with a full carbon Black Label fork included rather than sold as an upgrade. The bare frame is 1,870g. Titanium is the reason to buy it: it does not corrode, it does not need a repaint, and it does not fatigue the way aluminium does.

It takes 700c or 650b on the same frame, and that is the real decision here. Built 700c it is a fast titanium road bike for hardpack, dirt roads and anything with pavement in it, with room for a 53c tire. Built 650b it clears 2.25 inches and turns into something closer to a drop bar trail bike. Both run a State All-Road 1x12 with an 11 to 46T cassette.

Skip it if you want the lightest bike on the start line. Titanium is not the lightest material and this is not a race build. What it is, is the last all-road frame most riders will buy.

Standards you can build on

Every interface on this bike is a current standard. A 68mm BSA threaded bottom bracket, a 27.2mm seatpost, 12mm thru axles at 100mm front and 142mm rear, and a universal derailleur hanger. Nothing here is proprietary, so a titanium bike frame you buy once can be rebuilt around whatever groupset you want in ten years.

GRADE 9 TITANIUM, DOUBLE BUTTED

Grade 9 titanium is the 3AL/2.5V alloy, not commercially pure ti. It is stronger than the pure grades and it takes butting, so the tube walls are thick at the welds where the load goes and thin in the middle where it does not. That is how a titanium bike frame ends up at 1,870g while still shrugging off the things that dent aluminium.

The ride is the part people buy titanium for and the part that is hardest to put a number on: it damps high frequency buzz without feeling dead, which is why GearJunkie called it more planted than the stiffer carbon bikes they usually ride. The PVD and sandblasted finish is raw metal rather than paint, so it cannot chip, and the grain means no two frames look quite the same.

ONE FRAME, TWO BIKES

The wheel size is the biggest decision on this page and it changes the bike more than any component does. On 700c the bigger diameter holds momentum and rolls over things with less effort, and there is clearance for a 53c tire. That is the gravel racing, dirt road and mixed pavement build, and it is the right default for most riders.

On 650b the smaller rim frees the clearance up to 2.25 inches, which is genuinely close to mountain bike rubber. More air, lower pressure, more grip, and a lower standover. That is the build for chunky loose terrain, loaded bikepacking and long days where comfort beats speed. Choose 650b if your regular routes are rough enough that you keep wishing for a hardtail.

Tubeless Setup Not Included

The State All-Road wheels are tubeless capable, but the tape, valves and sealant are not in the box. Budget for them if you want to run tubeless.

Questions before buying

Why buy a titanium gravel bike instead of carbon or steel?

Longevity and ride feel. Titanium does not corrode, does not need paint to protect it, and does not fatigue the way aluminium does, so the frame outlives the parts hanging off it. It also damps high frequency road buzz without going dead underneath you. What it is not is the lightest option: a race carbon frame will be lighter.

Should I build it 700c or 650b?

Start with 700c. It holds momentum better, rolls over obstacles with less effort and clears a 53c tire, which covers gravel racing, dirt roads and mixed pavement. Choose 650b if your regular routes are rough enough that you keep wishing for a hardtail: it clears 2.25 inches, which is close to mountain bike rubber, and gives a lower standover.

What size Titanium All-Road should I get?

State lists six sizes: XS for riders 5 foot 1 to 5 foot 6, S for 5 foot 5 to 5 foot 9, M for 5 foot 8 to 5 foot 11, L for 5 foot 10 to 6 foot 1, XL for 6 foot to 6 foot 4, and XXL for 6 foot 3 to 6 foot 8. Is the carbon fork really included?

Yes. The Black Label gravel fork is full carbon and ships as standard on every build, with mounts for cages and cargo. It is not a paid upgrade. State does sell a Monster fork for more clearance and a 40mm suspension fork if you want to go further.

How much does it weigh?

State publishes a frame weight of 1,870g, measured on a medium, and does not publish a complete bike weight. We are not going to estimate one for you, because what a complete bike weighs depends on which wheelset and fork you build it with.

What are hydro mechanical brakes?

The lever pulls a cable, and the caliper converts that pull into hydraulic pressure at the pads. You get most of the squeeze and modulation of a full hydraulic system while keeping a cable you can replace anywhere, with no fluid to bleed at the lever.
