Sizes overlap on purpose. Between two, the smaller rides more upright and the larger stretches you out. Every size shares a 450mm chain stay and a 50mm fork offset, so handling stays consistent across the range.

4130 All-Road

4130 All-Road Overview

The State Bicycle Co. 4130 All-Road in Raw Phosphate is a chromoly gravel bike built around a fully wireless SRAM AXS drivetrain. It is the same frame as the 12 speed All-Road with the cables taken out of it.

You choose two things. The drivetrain: Rival XPLR AXS, thirteen speeds across 10 to 46T, or the Eagle Mullet, twelve speeds across 10 to 52T with a 520 percent range. And the wheels: 700c on 50mm Continental Terra Hardpack, or 650b on 2.1 inch Vittoria Barzo. Both drivetrains use Rival E1 carbon levers with full hydraulic discs, and both include the battery and charger.

Skip it if you want a bike you can re-index with a multi tool at the roadside. And if this is more bike than your riding needs, the 12 speed All-Road is the same frame with a cable drivetrain for $999.99.

Built to be changed

Every interface is a current standard. A UDH hanger, so a bent derailleur is a part any shop in the world can order, and both of these AXS derailleurs bolt straight through the frame with no separate hanger at all. Thru axles front and rear, 12x100 and 12x142.

Internal routing is already in place for a dropper post. Three water bottle mounts plus rack, fender and accessory mounts. Load it for a week out, or strip it back to a fast Saturday bike.

WIRELESS, AND WHY IT MATTERS IN THE DIRT

Electronic shifting is usually sold on speed. On a bike that lives in dust and grit the better argument is duller: nothing about it degrades between services.

Cable housing contaminates. Cables stretch. Indexing drifts, so the shift you had in March is not the shift you have in August. A wireless derailleur moves to a position it already knows, every time, whatever the bike has been through. Both of these bolt through the frame with no hanger to bend and no limit screws to set.

TWO WHEEL SIZES, TWO BIKES

Same frame, same clearance, genuinely different bikes. The 700c build runs the Continental Terra Hardpack TR 50mm on 23mm rims: a flat centre tread that rolls fast on pavement and hard pack, with shoulder lugs for the rough parts.

The 650b build runs Vittoria Barzo 2.1 inch knobbies on 25mm rims. More volume, more grip, more trail. If your gravel is closer to singletrack, that is the one. The frame takes either, so the other wheelset can come later.

Questions before buying

Which drivetrain should I choose?

Rival XPLR is thirteen speeds across 10 to 46T, so the steps between gears are smaller and your cadence stays steady on rolling terrain. The Eagle Mullet is twelve speeds across 10 to 52T, a 520 percent range, which gives up a little smoothness for a much lower bailout gear. Long fast gravel days favour the XPLR. Big climbs and loaded bikepacking favour the Mullet.

Which wheel size should I choose?

700c with the 50mm Continental Terra Hardpack is the faster, more versatile setup and the one most gravel riders want. 650b with the 2.1 inch Vittoria Barzo has more volume and more grip for rough ground and trail. The frame takes either, so you can add the other wheelset later.

Are the tires tubeless?

The rims are tubeless capable in both sizes, though tape, valves and sealant are not included. The 700c Continental Terra Hardpack is tubeless ready. The 650b Vittoria Barzo is not rated tubeless. It may be possible to set it up that way, but State does not guarantee it and recommends professional assembly for any tubeless setup.

What is UDH and why does it matter?

Universal Derailleur Hanger is a shared standard, so the part that joins the derailleur to the frame is one any shop can order rather than a proprietary piece. It is also what these AXS derailleurs need: both mount straight through the frame with no separate hanger at all, and neither has limit screws to set.

Does it come assembled?

It ships partially assembled. State also offers a Pro Build, assembled and safety checked in Phoenix with the wireless drivetrain paired, calibrated and firmware updated before it ships. That adds one to two weeks to the build queue. Ask us before you order if you want it.

When does it ship?

This is a preorder. State's own estimate is late September. We confirm the date with State when you order rather than guess at it.
