Megatron 5.0 Step-Thru Overview
The Megatron 5.0 replaces the 4.0, and the change you notice first is the frame. It is a step thru now, in 6061 T6 aluminum, so getting on and off with a pack, a rifle or tired legs is easy.
Underneath it is still Rambo's all wheel drive hunting bike: a 1000W hub motor in each wheel on a 52V system, with all wheel drive you switch on when the ground turns to mud, snow, wet grass or a steep climb. It carries 350 lbs and tops out around 38 mph.
Rambo also changed the gearing. A 30T rear sprocket replaces the 4.0's 22T, which is built for the slow, hard going where you want to pedal along with the motors, not for cruising.
GEARED FOR THE SLOW, HARD MILES
The 4.0's 22T sprocket was geared for pedaling at around 17 mph. The 5.0's 30T is geared for around 6 to 8 mph, which is where a hunting bike actually works: creeping up a field edge, climbing out of a creek bottom, crossing soft ground with a load on the rack.
At those speeds the bigger sprocket gives you more leverage on the pedals, so when the bike is working on a hill you can add your own power and help it up. It stays a single speed with no derailleur to knock out of line on a trail.

Questions before buying
What changed from the Megatron 4.0?+
Rambo lists five changes. The frame is now a step thru. The system moves to 52V with a 25Ah battery. The 26 x 4.8 tires are replaced by Rambo 26 x 4.0 tires with 5mm anti puncture protection. The LCD is updated with Bluetooth so you can tune each assist level from your phone. And the rear sprocket goes from 22T to 30T.
Why did Rambo move to a 30T rear sprocket?+
The 4.0's 22T was geared for pedaling at around 17 mph. The 30T is geared for around 6 to 8 mph. That gives you more leverage at slow speeds, so if the bike is struggling on a climb you can pedal and help it. It suits the slow, demanding riding a hunting bike does most.
What does the all wheel drive do?+
There is a 1000W hub motor in each wheel. Rambo describes the drive as on demand all wheel drive: run it when the ground calls for it, in mud, snow, grass and on hills, where a single driven wheel would spin.
Is there a bigger battery option?+
No. The 5.0 comes with one battery, 52V 25Ah, and that is the standard option Rambo lists. The 4.0's 20Ah and 30Ah choices and its dual battery kit do not carry over.
What range does it get?+
Rambo has not published a range figure for the 5.0 yet. Range on a 52V 25Ah pack depends heavily on weight, terrain, speed and how much you run both motors, so we would rather give you no number than a borrowed one. Ask us and we will pass on what Rambo tells us.
How fast does it go?+
Rambo rates it up to 38 mph using the right thumb throttle and adjustable pedal assist. Check the e-bike rules where you ride; many trails and public lands cap speed or motor power.
How heavy is it and what will it carry?+
Rambo lists 86 lbs with the battery removed and a 350 lb load capacity, rider and gear together.
