State Bicycle Co. 4130 Matte Black | Single Speed & Fixed Gear Bike

This was an excellent choice for my everyday commute to work bike. The ride is 10 miles and fairly level. I upgraded the stock seat with the Fizik Tempo Aliante R5 and the stock pedals with the Odyssey Platform pedals (both upgrades are strongly recommended). Added the Topeak Rear Rack, the Cascadia Fenders (perfect color match), Bushwhacker Mesa Trunk Bag. Continental 700 x 40 Pure Contact tires, Fenix BC26R Headlight, and Nite Rider Vmax+180 Taillight. The stock 46 / 16 gearing was a little tall for me, so I switched to the 18 tooth freewheel cog. Very happy with my new ride.

An extra freewheel I ordered wasn't in the box when it arrived. No big deal, stuff happens. But State bikes made it right and got me one right away and I made the first season ride with the boys. 5 stars.

Big tyred, steel, single speed in a really big size (62cm) for commuting, gravel grinding and cutting through parkland. Not much else out there and im super impressed.

Build quality out of the box looks great, finish on the paint is better than I expected and the whole package is lighter than I thought. Sure, upgrades will happen over time but for now its 10/10.

I haven't really enjoyed cycling since I had a bmx 20 years ago, and this 4130 is reminding me how fun the ride can be when you take everything a bit less serious and just enjoy being on the ride.

Son and I assembled the bike together and it took us an hour to get everything dialed in. Did three hour plus long rides thus far and everything is exceptional except for one item. Got upgraded state bicycle pedals to replace plastic pedals which are great. Got selle Italia 1980 vintage saddle. Dang hard saddle. My 74 year old skinny butt is not a fan!

Just got my 4130 all road single gear bike put together. Looks amazing and rides awesome. Shipping was fast and wasn't damaged. Received everything except my u bolt lock. I asked the guys at the bike store that put it together for me , and he said it wasn't in the box when they opened it. Other then that I love the bike

A few things I’d like to address right off the bat: 1. The badge work leaves something to be desired as it’s not properly riveted on and pops off easily, MAJOR BUMMER! 2. There were a number of chips in the paint up by the head tube and around the seat clamp area. These things happen, but it gives me a chance to scope the paint job; it’s pretty thin, and I can tell it’ll be getting powder coated within the year most likely. 3. The seat tube down by the bottom bracket looks like it has a slight curvature to it. I’ll be checking for certain with a level tomorrow. Aside from those few things, the bike is really well put together and for the price is a great little pony to ride. She shifts smoothly, runs quiet, and sprints up climbs like she was born for it. Almost perfect Rides smooth and is pretty comfy with stock components. My bike switches gears whenever I go over a bump, so having gone gears auto-change unexpectedly mid-ride is a bummer. I have tried to fix it and took it into the shop, but it still auto-switches.
