The Velowave Rover Step-Thru is a fat tire e-bike with a low step through frame: a Bafang geared hub motor in the rear wheel, rated 750W with a 1275W peak and 80 N.m of torque, and a removable 48V 15Ah battery of LG cells, 720Wh, in the down tube. Velowave quotes an average of 50 miles on pedal assist and 30 on the throttle.
A thumb throttle and a cadence sensor run the motor. Velowave lists it as Class 3: up to 28 MPH with pedal assist and 20 MPH on the throttle. Kenda 26 x 4.0 inch fat tires, a hydraulic suspension fork, hydraulic disc brakes on 180mm rotors and a Shimano 7 speed take it from the bike path to the beach. It weighs 70.5 lb with the battery and carries 330 lb.
One size, a 17.3 inch frame, fits riders from 5'5" to 6'5". Want a torque sensor, a rack and fenders fitted and a lighter 66 lb bike? That is the Breeze T.
Built to be lived with
A 6061 aluminium frame with a removable battery and internal cable routing, a hydraulic suspension fork, hydraulic disc brakes on 180mm rotors, a Shimano 7 speed with a long cage derailleur, 170mm alloy cranks on a 52 tooth chainring, and Kenda 26 x 4.0 inch fat tires on aluminium rims.
A 10W LED headlight, a colour display, a wide comfort saddle with a rear reflector, alloy platform pedals and a side kickstand all come on the bike. Velowave covers the frame and electronics for two years, the battery for two years or 300 charge cycles, and mechanical parts for one.
The Bafang geared hub sits in the rear wheel. It is rated 750W, peaks at 1275W and makes 80 N.m of torque, which Velowave says gives effortless acceleration and secure control on inclines and rough ground.
A cadence sensor brings the assist in as soon as the cranks turn, and the thumb throttle gives you power without pedalling. Velowave lists the Rover as Class 3: up to 28 MPH with pedal assist and 20 MPH on the throttle. The colour display shows your speed, battery and assist level.

Kenda 26 x 4.0 inch fat tires spread your weight over a wide footprint, and Velowave says they adapt to varied terrain for a smooth, reliable ride. The hydraulic suspension fork takes the sting out of bumps up front.
The step through frame keeps the top tube low, so getting on and off is easy, even in sand. The 48V 15Ah LG battery comes out of the frame to charge indoors, and Velowave quotes an average of 50 miles on pedal assist, calculated for a 165 lb rider.

Velowave quotes an average of 50 miles on pedal assist, up to 50 in level 1, and 30 miles on the throttle alone, calculated for a 165 lb rider. Hills, headwind, cold, a heavier load and more throttle all bring it down.
Yes, a thumb throttle. Velowave lists the Rover as Class 3: up to 28 MPH with pedal assist and 20 MPH on the throttle. Paths and trails set their own rules, so check where you ride.
The Rover comes in one size, a 17.3 inch step through frame, and Velowave fits it to riders from 5'5" to 6'5". The seat adjusts from 870mm to 1140mm, and the low frame means you step through rather than swing a leg over.
Hub. The Bafang geared motor sits in the rear wheel, rated 750W with a 1275W peak and 80 N.m of torque. A cadence sensor turns the assist on when the cranks move, and the thumb throttle works on its own.
Velowave lists 70.5 lb with the battery and a 330 lb payload. The 48V 15Ah battery weighs 9.3 lb and comes out of the frame, so you can carry it inside to charge.
Velowave covers the frame and the electronics (motor, controller, display, charger and throttle) for two years, the battery for two years or 300 charge cycles, whichever comes first, and mechanical parts for one year, against manufacturing defects. We are an authorized dealer, so it applies.
