Philodo H8 Overview

The Philodo H8 is the entry to Philodo’s dual motor range: a 2000W hub motor in each wheel, 5000W at peak, 2 x 105 N.m, switchable between single and dual motor, on a hardtail frame with a lockout suspension fork. Philodo puts it at 40 to 45 MPH.

The battery is a 60V 25Ah, 1500Wh pack with LG cells, good for 50 to 70 miles by Philodo’s estimate and charged in 8 to 9 hours. A Shimano 21 speed with a triple chainring gives it a wider gear range than the 7 speed Falcon and Forester. The 18 inch frame fits riders 5'2" to 6'4" and carries 450 lb.

Hydraulic brakes front and rear, a 700 lumen headlight with horn, a brake light, fenders and a rack are fitted. Blue or white, and an extra battery option. If you want rear suspension, that is the Forester.

Built to be lived with

A 6061 aluminium 18 inch hardtail frame on 26 x 4 Chaoyang puncture resistant tires, with a lockout suspension fork, a Prowheel 24/34/42T triple crank and a wide soft saddle.

A colour display, 700 lumen headlight with horn, brake light, brake levers that cut the motors, fenders and a rear rack all ship on the bike. Frame, battery and parts are covered for one year.

TWO MOTORS, SWITCH AT THE BAR

A 2000W hub motor in each wheel, each with its own 27A controller, 5000W together at peak and 2 x 105 N.m of torque. All wheel drive: the front pulls while the rear pushes.

You switch between single and dual motor from the handlebar. Single for the road and for range, dual for the climb. Three ways to ride: throttle only, pedal assist, or pedal with no motor at all.

TWENTY ONE GEARS, ONE FORK

The H8 is a hardtail: a suspension fork with a lockout up front and a rigid rear. That saves weight and money, and with 4 inch tires at low pressure the rear is not harsh.

A Shimano 21 speed with a 24, 34 and 42 tooth triple chainring gives it a real low gear for pedalling a 60V bike home if the battery runs out, and a tall one for keeping up with the motors.

Questions before buying

What does dual motor mean?

A 2000W hub motor in each wheel, 5000W together at peak, switchable between single and dual motor modes. Run one motor on the flat to save the battery and both for climbs, sand or mud.

Is 40 to 45 MPH legal?

Not on most public roads. Above 28 MPH this is an off road vehicle in the eyes of US e-bike law, and Philodo says so itself. Ride it on private land and trails that allow it, and use pedal assist or a limited mode on the road. Speed also depends on rider weight, battery charge and terrain.

Is the H8 full suspension?

No. It is a hardtail with a lockout suspension fork and a rigid rear. The Forester and Falcon have a rear air shock.

What size is it?

One 18 inch frame, which Philodo fits to riders from 5'2" to 6'4".

What is the extra battery option?

A second 60V 25Ah pack for $299 more, so you can swap rather than wait 8 to 9 hours to charge. Pick it in the selector above.

What is the warranty?

I got the white and black h8 and I'm still smiling this thing has power smoothness and killer looks mine came with the rack bag but I still need to get the phone holder and because I only do business with companies I trust it has to be philodo thanks guys for a great product.

Great all around bike! This bike is awesome, Smooth ride . lots of power , fun on or off road. Shipping was fast although not without incidence , the box was damaged and the front fork protruded enough to scrape to bare metal at the bottom. Assembly was a breeze , price was right , shipping fast , and being my 1st experience on a ebike.... the question what took so long? I spent lots of hours on youtube and reading reviews the Philodo H8 60 volt was my final choice
