Eunorau Defender S 2.0 Overview

The Eunorau Defender S 2.0 puts a 750W hub motor in each wheel for all wheel drive, and a torque sensor matches the help to how hard you pedal.

Four bar suspension with an air shock, 26 x 4.0 inch fat tires and 203mm hydraulic brakes.

Built to be lived with

A 6061 aluminium frame in 17 or 19 inch, Shimano CUES 9 speed and a removable 48V 17Ah battery. It weighs 89.3 lb and carries 300 lb.

Eunorau covers the motors, battery and electrical parts for 24 months and the frame for 10 years.

A MOTOR IN EACH WHEEL

A 750W hub motor drives the front wheel and another drives the rear: 1,500W combined and 85 N.m of torque, run by a 48V 25A dual motor controller.

Eunorau says power at both wheels helps it keep moving on loose, soft or uneven ground, from gravel and sand to snow.

A four bar rear linkage works an adjustable AOS01 air shock, 165mm eye to eye, and an RST Guide fork gives 75mm of travel with preload and lockout.

The 26 x 4.0 inch fat tires on double wall alloy rims spread the load on soft ground, and 203mm rotors front and rear do the stopping.

A torque sensor in the bottom bracket reads how hard you pedal and adds help to match: push harder for more, ease off for less.

Shimano CUES 1 x 9 with an 11 to 36 tooth cassette and a 42 tooth chainring covers climbs and cruising, and the thumb throttle is there when you want it. Eunorau sets the assist to 20 MPH.

Questions before buying

17 or 19 inch frame?

Eunorau fits the Defender S 2.0 to riders 5'3" to 6'4" and does not split that range by size. The 19 inch frame has a 2 inch taller seat tube and a seat height range 2 inches higher: 25.0 to 30.9 inches against 23.0 to 28.9. Shorter riders usually suit the 17 and taller riders the 19; between sizes, ask us before you order.

How does the all wheel drive work?

Each wheel has its own 750W hub motor, run by one 48V 25A dual motor controller, for 1,500W combined and 85 N.m of torque. Power goes to both wheels, which Eunorau says helps on loose, soft or uneven ground.

How fast does it go?

Eunorau sets it to assist up to 20 MPH, and it has a thumb throttle. Rules for electric bikes vary by state and trail, and many trails limit electric bikes or throttles, so with two 750W motors check yours before you ride.

How far does it go?

Eunorau rates the 48V 17Ah battery at up to 40 miles, and up to 80 miles with its optional second battery. Rider weight, terrain, speed, assist level, cold and tire pressure all change that.

How much weight can it carry?

Eunorau rates it for 300 lb (136 kg), rider and cargo together. The bike itself weighs 89.3 lb.

Does it come with lights?

A front LED light with a horn, yes. At the back there is a red reflector, not a light, so add a rear light before riding at dusk or on roads.

Is the battery removable?

Yes. The 48V 17Ah battery comes out for charging or storage and charges in about 6 to 8 hours on the 54.6V 2A charger.

Can I add a rack and fenders?

Eunorau lists a rack and fender set as a compatible accessory, sold separately. The bike comes without them.

What does UL certified mean?

It means a product was tested by an independent lab against a published standard for electrical and fire risk. Eunorau lists the Defender S 2.0 as UL certified.

What is the warranty?

Eunorau covers the motors, battery and electrical parts for 24 months and the frame for 10 years, for the original owner. Wear parts such as brake pads, rotors, tires, chains and grips are not covered, and neither are crashes, stunt riding or racing.
