Vanpowers GrandTeton-Ultra Overview
The Vanpowers GrandTeton-Ultra is the mid drive fat tire bike in the range. An Ananda M100 motor at the cranks turns out 500W, 760W at peak and 130 N.m of torque through a Shimano CUES 9 speed, so the gears multiply the motor the way they multiply you. The same 48V 14.7Ah battery as the Pro is good for up to 93 miles by Vanpowers’ test.
It is the lighter, sharper GrandTeton: 70.4 lb, a 120mm air fork with lockout, Tektro 4 piston brakes on 203mm rotors, a 150mm dropper post, and a built in T-Box with 4G and GPS for tracking and an alarm. There is no throttle, and no fenders or rack, because this one is built for the trail.
One size, two colours. If you want a throttle and a rack for the road, that is the GrandTeton-Pro.
Built to be lived with
A 6061 aluminium frame tested to 150% of the ISO 4210 standard, one size for riders from 5'5" to 6'3". A 720mm bar, a Selle Royal saddle, a 120mm air fork with lockout, a 150mm dropper post and CST 26 x 4 fat tires on double wall rims.
A 1.9 inch colour display with adaptive brightness and Bluetooth, a headlight with high and low beam, a brake activated tail light, a 400 lb payload and the T-Box tracker built in. The frame, battery, motor and controller are covered for two years.
ANANDA M100 MID DRIVE, 130 N.M
A hub motor pushes the wheel. A mid drive pushes the chain, so every one of the nine gears multiplies its 130 N.m the way it multiplies your own effort. That is why a 500W mid drive climbs like a bigger hub motor and why the bike balances better, with the weight low and central.
The torque sensor is built into the motor: it reads how hard you press and answers in proportion. Pedal assist runs to 28 MPH once unlocked. There is no throttle on the Ultra.

705 WATT HOURS AND A TRACKER
The battery lives inside the down tube and comes out for charging: 48V 14.7Ah, 705.6Wh, Samsung cells, a battery management system built in and IP67 sealed. Vanpowers tested it to 93 miles with a 165 lb rider in ECO mode on flat ground, and the frame takes an optional second battery for up to 185 miles.
The T-Box smart module is built in on the Ultra: 4G and GPS for location tracking, an anti theft alarm and auto unlock through the Vanlife app.

Tektro 4 Piston Brakes
Four piston hydraulic calipers on 203mm rotors for long descents with a load.

120mm Air Fork
An air sprung fork with lockout, tuneable to your weight, over a CST 26 x 4 tire.

150mm Dropper Post
Drop the saddle from the bar for descents, raise it for the climb.

T-Box 4G And GPS
Built in tracking, alarm and auto unlock through the Vanlife app.

Questions before buying
Why a mid drive instead of a hub motor?+
A mid drive turns the cranks, so its torque goes through the gears. Downshift for a climb and the motor gets the same help you do, which is why 130 N.m at the crank climbs harder than a bigger hub motor. It also keeps the weight low and central and leaves the rear wheel a normal wheel.
Does it have a throttle?+
No. The Ultra is pedal assist only, with a torque sensor in the motor that matches assist to how hard you press.
How fast does it go?+
28 MPH on pedal assist, by Vanpowers’ spec table. It ships limited and is unlocked through the display.
What size is it?+
One frame size, which Vanpowers fits to riders from 5'5" to 6'3". The 150mm dropper post covers a lot of the saddle height range on its own.
What is the difference between the Ultra and the Pro?+
Same frame, battery, 9 speed drivetrain and tires. The Ultra has the Ananda mid drive with 130 N.m, an air fork, 4 piston brakes, a dropper post and the built in T-Box tracker, and weighs 6 lb less. The Pro has a 750W hub motor, a throttle, fenders and a rack, for $900 less.
What is the warranty?+
Vanpowers covers the frame, battery, motor and controller for two years and the other original parts for one year, against manufacturing defects. Wear items such as tires, brake pads, chain and spokes are not covered. We are an authorized dealer, so it applies.
