Every bike we sell carries State Bicycle Co.’s own Limited Warranty against manufacturing defects, from the date you receive it. It covers the original purchaser and is not transferable.

Standard coverage, on every bike:

  • 5 years, frame and fork: steel, aluminium and titanium frames and forks.
  • 1 year, carbon frame and fork: extended to 2 years under ProBuild, below.
  • 1 year, components: non-consumable parts — crankset, pedals, bars, stem, seatpost, wheels, hubs and carbon forks.
  • 18 months, eBike system: motor, electronics and battery.

ProBuild: optional, free, and worth doing
ProBuild is not something you buy and it is not required for your warranty to be valid. It is an upgraded tier State unlocks when any professional bike shop assembles the bike and you register it with State within 30 days of delivery. Your local shop counts.

What is not covered
Normal wear and tear on any bike: tires, tubes, chains, brake pads, grips, bar tape, saddles, spokes, and paint or cosmetic finish. Nor is crash and impact damage, improper assembly or adjustment, lack of maintenance, modifications, or incompatible parts. Shop labour is the rider’s responsibility under either tier. RAW finish steel frames are not covered against rust — that is the finish behaving as intended.

Sizes overlap on purpose. Between two, the smaller rides more nimble and upright and the larger stretches you out. Every size shares a 450mm chain stay, a 75mm bottom bracket drop and a 45mm fork offset, so handling stays the same across the range.

The State Bicycle Co. 4130 All-Road Flat Bar in Black Stone is a steel flat bar gravel bike, and the simple way into the 4130 All-Road. A double butted chromoly frame, a 630mm flat bar with 25mm of rise, 650b wheels on 2.1 inch Vittoria Barzo knobbies, and a 10 speed drivetrain with nothing to charge and nothing to pair.

Every choice points the same way: fewer things to go wrong, fewer things to pay for. The cables run fully outside the frame, the bottom bracket is a threaded 68mm BSA with square taper cranks, and the hanger is UDH, so parts are easy to find and easy to fit. It is as happy in weekday traffic as it is on a dirt road you have never ridden.

Standards you can fix anywhere

A 68mm BSA threaded bottom bracket, square taper cranks, a 27.2mm seatpost and a 31.8mm bar clamp. Standards with decades of parts behind them, serviceable by any shop.

Thru axles front and rear, 12x100 and 12x142, on sealed bearing hubs. A UDH derailleur hanger, so a replacement after a crash is a part almost any shop can order. And every cable runs outside the frame, where you can see it, adjust it and replace it.

LONG, LOW AND SLACK

The chain stays are 450mm on every size. That long rear end puts your weight further forward between the wheels, so the bike tracks straight on loose surfaces and stays planted when it carries bags.

Up front, a 70.5 to 71.5 degree head angle lets the front wheel lead rather than dart, a 75mm bottom bracket drop sits your weight below the axles, and a 45mm fork offset on every size keeps the steering the same from XS to L. The result is a calm bike on a fire road descent.

WHY A FLAT BAR GRAVEL BIKE

The bar is 630mm wide with 25mm of rise on a 31.8mm clamp. Width gives you leverage over the front wheel on loose ground, and the rise brings your hands up, which opens your back and takes weight off your wrists on a long day.

It also lets you see. Sitting upright in traffic, on a canal path or down a dirt road you have never ridden is worth more than the aerodynamics you give up.

Questions before buying

Why a flat bar gravel bike instead of drop bars?

Flat bars give you leverage and an upright position. This one is 630mm wide with 25mm of rise, so you get more control over the front wheel on loose ground and less weight on your wrists. If you want drops, the drop bar State 4130 All-Road gravel bike runs a 12 speed drivetrain and a choice of 700c or 650b wheels.

Is 10 speed enough?

For range, yes. The 11 to 46T cassette gives 418% of range: a climbing gear for loaded dirt and enough at the top for a fast flat section. More speeds would give smaller steps between gears, not more range, and they cost more every time you replace a chain or cassette.

Are the tires tubeless?

The Vittoria Barzo tires are not rated tubeless. It may be possible to set them up that way, but State cannot guarantee it and recommends professional assembly for any tubeless setup.

Can I fit bigger tires or 700c wheels?

Yes. The frame clears 650b tires up to 2.4 inch (60mm), more than the 2.1 inch it ships on. It also takes 700c tires up to 2.25 inch (57mm), though that needs a separate wheelset.

Which size State 4130 All-Road Flat Bar should I choose?

XS fits riders 5'1" to 5'6", S 5'5" to 5'10", M 5'9" to 6'2" and L 6'1" to 6'5". The sizes overlap on purpose. Between two, the smaller one rides more nimble and upright, and the larger one stretches you out. Reach, stack and standover for every size are in the fit chart.

What does UDH mean?

Universal Derailleur Hanger. It is a shared standard, so a replacement hanger is available at almost any shop, with no proprietary part to track down after a crash on a trip. It also leaves a clear path to newer drivetrains later.
