Vanpowers Cycanon Overview

The Vanpowers Cycanon is a step through fat tire electric bike with a 750W rear hub motor that peaks at 900W, a removable 48V 13Ah battery good for up to 84 miles by Vanpowers’ test, and 25 MPH on pedal assist.

A torque sensor reads how hard you press and the motor answers in proportion. Tektro hydraulic disc brakes on 180mm rotors, a 55mm suspension fork, a moped style headlight and a brake activated tail light. Three colours, one size.

Built to be lived with

A 6061 aluminium step through frame tested to 150% of the ISO 4210 standard, one size for riders from 4'11" to 6'2". A 580mm bar, a foldable stem, an urban comfort saddle and a 55mm spring fork over CST 20 x 4 fat tires.

A 3.5 inch LCD with USB charging, a 120 lux moped style headlight, a tail light that flashes when you brake, a 300 lb payload and a 55 lb rack. The frame, battery, motor and controller are covered for two years.

ASSIST THAT MATCHES YOUR EFFORT

A cadence sensor only knows the pedals are turning, so the motor comes in a beat late and at a fixed strength. The Cycanon reads pedal force at the crank instead, and the 750W hub motor answers in proportion: push harder, get more.

Pedal assist runs to 25 MPH. A half twist throttle on the right grip moves the bike without pedalling, and a Shimano Tourney 7 speed with a 14 to 28 cassette covers the climbs.

624 WATT HOURS, OUT IN ONE HAND

The battery comes out of the frame, so it charges indoors while the bike stays outside. 48V 13Ah, 624Wh, a battery management system built in, IPX5 sealed and certified to UL 2271; the whole bike is certified to UL 2849.

Vanpowers tested it to 84 miles with a 165 lb rider on level 1 assist at an average of 9.32 MPH on flat ground. Your mileage moves with hills, weight and assist level. The 54.6V 3A fast charger is in the box.

Questions before buying

What does the torque sensor actually do?

It measures how hard you are pressing on the pedals and sets the motor to match, so the assist arrives in proportion to your effort rather than in a fixed amount when the pedals turn. Smoother starts, more natural on hills, and less battery used.

How fast does it go?

25 MPH on pedal assist, by Vanpowers’ spec table, and there is a half twist throttle. Vanpowers says to check local rules before riding above 20 MPH on assist.

Is the battery removable?

Yes. It comes out of the frame so you can charge it indoors. It is a 48V 13Ah 624Wh pack with a battery management system, IPX5 sealed and certified to UL 2271.

Who does it fit?

One step through size, which Vanpowers fits to riders from 4'11" to 6'2". Reach is 490mm, stack 532mm, and the seat post adjusts on a quick release.

Why is the Apex Blue cheaper?

We mirror Vanpowers’ own prices colour by colour. Same bike, same parts, same warranty; only the paint differs.

What is the warranty?
