Eunorau Specter S 4.0 Overview
The Eunorau Specter S 4.0, also sold as the Hunter X9, is a full suspension fat tire electric bike with a 1000W Bafang G510 mid drive. The motor turns the chain, so it works through the SRAM NX 11 speed gears and their 11 to 42 tooth cassette, and a thumb throttle adds power without pedaling.
An Explorer fork with 140mm of travel and an AO 38RC rear shock with 50mm keep the 26 x 4.0 inch Kenda tires following the ground, and four piston hydraulic brakes on 180mm rotors stop it. The removable 48V 17.5Ah battery of LG cells is good for up to 40 miles by Eunorau's figure.
Eunorau sets it up as a Class 2 electric bike. It comes in a 16 or 18 inch frame, in Moon Black or Army Green, with a rear rack and full fenders, and carries up to 300 lb of rider and cargo.
Built to be lived with
A 6061 aluminium full suspension frame in a 16 or 18 inch size, an Explorer fork, an AO 38RC rear shock and 26 x 4.0 inch Kenda tires on single wall aluminium rims with stainless spokes. The bike is 79.7 inches long and weighs 83.7 lb.
SRAM NX 11 speed gearing, a Bafang color display, a 700mm riser bar, a rear rack and full aluminium fenders. Eunorau covers the motor, battery and electrical parts for 24 months and the frame for 10 years.
CLIMBS IN THE RIGHT GEAR
The Bafang G510 is a 1000W mid drive: it turns the chain, so its power runs through the SRAM NX 11 speed gears. Drop to the 42 tooth cog on a steep climb and the motor works through that low gear; shift up for the flats.
The motor sits low in the middle of the frame, which keeps its weight centred, and a shift sensor cuts the assist for a moment during each gear change to ease the load on the chain. A thumb throttle adds power without pedaling.

SMOOTH OVER ROOTS AND RUTS
An Explorer fork with 140mm of travel and 36mm stanchions works up front, and an AO 38RC shock gives the rear 50mm. Together they keep the wheels following uneven ground and take the sting out of broken pavement, gravel and trail, per Eunorau.
Kenda 26 x 4.0 inch fat tires add a wide contact patch on loose and uneven surfaces, and four piston hydraulic brakes on 180mm rotors stop the bike front and rear.

CHARGE IT INDOORS
The 48V 17.5Ah battery of LG cells locks into the down tube and lifts out, so it can charge in the house while the bike stays in the truck or the shed. Eunorau rates it at up to 40 miles.
The bike weighs 83.7 lb and Eunorau rates it for 300 lb of rider and cargo. An aluminium rear rack and full aluminium fenders come with it.

Questions before buying
Is this the same bike as the Hunter X9?+
Yes. Eunorau lists it as the Specter S 4.0 and as the Hunter X9; it is one bike with one spec.
16 or 18 inch frame?+
The two frames share the reach, stack, top tube, wheelbase and length. The 18 inch frame has a 2 inch longer seat tube and a saddle range 2 inches higher: 21.3 to 26 inches against 19.3 to 24. Eunorau lists riders 5'3" to 6'3" for the 16 inch frame and has not published a range for the 18, so taller riders who want more saddle height should pick the 18. Between sizes? Ask us before you order.
Why a mid drive on a hunting bike?+
The Bafang G510 turns the chain, so it works through the 11 gears: a low gear for a steep climb with gear on the rack, a high gear for the flats. Its weight sits low in the middle of the bike, per Eunorau.
How far does it go?+
Eunorau rates it at up to 40 miles on the 48V 17.5Ah battery. Rider and cargo weight, hills, soft ground, cold weather and heavy throttle use all bring it down.
Is it street legal?+
Eunorau sets it up as a Class 2 electric bike: pedal assist plus a throttle, with the motor helping up to 20 MPH. Most states treat Class 2 like a bicycle, but rules vary by state, town and land manager, so check before you ride roads, paths or public hunting ground.
How much can it carry?+
Eunorau rates it for 300 lb in total, rider and cargo. The aluminium rear rack takes bags and cargo accessories.
Is the battery removable?+
Yes. The 48V 17.5Ah battery of LG cells locks into the down tube and lifts out, so it can charge indoors while the bike stays in the truck or the shed.
Does it arrive assembled?+
Not fully. Eunorau posts assembly videos for the last steps. The bike weighs 83.7 lb, so have a second person there to lift it out, and photograph any box damage before you unpack.
What is the warranty?+
Eunorau covers the motor, battery and electrical parts for 24 months and the frame for 10 years, for the original owner. Wear parts such as brake pads, rotors, tires, chains and grips are not covered, and neither are crashes, stunt riding or racing. Eunorau asks you to register the bike right after purchase and to have it checked by a Eunorau dealer after the first year. We are an authorized dealer, so the warranty applies.
Moon Black or Army Green?+
Same bike, same price. Moon Black is a dark blue grey; Army Green is an olive green that sits well in the woods. Both come in the 16 and 18 inch frame.
