Every bike we sell carries State Bicycle Co.’s own Limited Warranty against manufacturing defects, from the date you receive it. It covers the original purchaser and is not transferable.

Standard coverage, on every bike:

  • 5 years, frame and fork: steel, aluminium and titanium frames and forks.
  • 1 year, carbon frame and fork: extended to 2 years under ProBuild, below.
  • 1 year, components: non-consumable parts — crankset, pedals, bars, stem, seatpost, wheels, hubs and carbon forks.
  • 18 months, eBike system: motor, electronics and battery.

ProBuild: optional, free, and worth doing
ProBuild is not something you buy and it is not required for your warranty to be valid. It is an upgraded tier State unlocks when any professional bike shop assembles the bike and you register it with State within 30 days of delivery. Your local shop counts.

What is not covered
Normal wear and tear on any bike: tires, tubes, chains, brake pads, grips, bar tape, saddles, spokes, and paint or cosmetic finish. Nor is crash and impact damage, improper assembly or adjustment, lack of maintenance, modifications, or incompatible parts. Shop labour is the rider’s responsibility under either tier. RAW finish steel frames are not covered against rust — that is the finish behaving as intended.

Find your size

Sizes overlap on purpose. Between two, the smaller rides more upright and the larger stretches you out. Cranks, bars and stem are sized to the frame, so the fit is built in rather than bolted on after.

Carbon Road Overview

The State Bicycle Co. Carbon Road in Midnight is a full carbon road bike built around a fully wireless SRAM Rival AXS 2x12 drivetrain. The finish is a translucent deep purple that lets the carbon weave show through, under holographic STATE lettering, so every frame looks slightly different. Underneath is the same carbon platform State races, with a T47 threaded bottom bracket, a UDH hanger, fully internal routing and clearance for 32mm tires.

You choose the wheels. DT Swiss A1800 Spline alloy wheels are standard at $2,799.99, for a complete bike of 18 lb 5 oz on a medium. ENVE AR40 or Zipp 404S carbon wheelsets add $1,000 and take the bike to 17 lb 11 oz. Every build shifts 48/35T chainrings across a 10 to 36T cassette, stops on Rival hydraulic discs, and ships with two AXS batteries and the charger.

Skip it if you want a drivetrain you can re-index with a multi tool, or tires wider than 32mm, which is what the All-Road line is for. And if the last 300 grams or so matter to you, the Carbon Road SL is the same geometry on an 820g frame.

Standards you can build on

A T47 threaded bottom bracket rather than press fit, so it is stiffer, the bearings last longer and it threads out at home. A Universal Derailleur Hanger any shop can order. A tapered 1 1/8 to 1 1/2 inch head tube on an FSA No.55 headset, a 31.8mm bar clamp and a carbon seatpost with 0mm setback, included.

PURPLE YOU CAN SEE THROUGH

Midnight is a translucent purple clear coat rather than a solid paint. The carbon weave reads through it across the whole frame and fork, and because no two layups are identical, every frame looks slightly different. The STATE lettering is holographic and shifts colour with the light. Purposeful, not flashy.

The frame is a 1,100g standard layup with aero road shaping, fully internal cable routing, a tapered head tube and a 396g full carbon fork with a carbon steerer. Tire clearance is 32mm, enough for fast, real world training on mixed pavement without giving up the road bike shape.

WIRELESS 2x, FITTED BY SIZE

The drivetrain is SRAM Rival AXS E1, fully wireless. A 48/35T crank and a 10 to 36T cassette give twelve speeds with a front derailleur that trims itself, and nothing to stretch, contaminate or drift out of index. Two EP Powerpack batteries and the charger are in the box.

State specced each frame size with professional bike fitters. The 45, 48 and 51cm frames get 165mm cranks and a 38cm bar; the 54 and 56cm get 170mm cranks and a 40cm bar. Stems run 90mm to 110mm across the range. Shorter cranks and narrower bars fit real riders from the first ride, built in rather than swapped later.

Questions before buying

Which wheelset should I choose?

The DT Swiss A1800 Spline is the standard build: a 30mm aero alloy rim on the 370 hub, 1,691g and tubeless ready, for a complete bike of 18 lb 5 oz on a medium. The ENVE AR40 is a 40mm full carbon rim at 1,515g, and the Zipp 404S a 50mm carbon rim at 1,585g. Either carbon set takes the bike to 17 lb 11 oz and adds $1,000. The frame is the same in every case.

Are pedals included?

No. The Carbon Road ships without pedals and takes any standard 9/16 inch threaded pedal, so you can fit the system you already ride.

Is the carbon cockpit included?

Not on this build. The standard Carbon Road ships the Zipp Service Course 70 Ergo alloy handlebar on a 3D forged stem, with external cockpit routing that is easy to service at home. The integrated carbon cockpit is an upgrade State sells separately.

How much does it weigh?

State lists the complete bike on a size medium at 18 lb 5 oz with the DT Swiss A1800 wheels, 17 lb 11 oz with the ENVE AR40, and approximately 17 lb 11 oz with the Zipp 404S. The frame alone is 1,100g and the fork 396g uncut.

Does it come assembled?

No. Unless State’s Pro Build is added, it arrives from Phoenix, Arizona, as boxed parts and needs professional assembly before riding. State’s Pro Build assembles and safety checks it with the wireless drivetrain paired, calibrated and firmware updated, and adds one to two weeks. Ask us before you order if you want it.

What size should I get?

State lists the XS 45cm for riders 4 foot 11 to 5 foot 3, the S 48cm for 5 foot 3 to 5 foot 6, the M 51cm for 5 foot 6 to 5 foot 9, the L 54cm for 5 foot 9 to 6 foot 1, and the XL 56cm for 6 foot 1 to 6 foot 3. Sizes overlap on purpose. Between two, the smaller rides more upright and the larger stretches you out.
