Every bike we sell carries State Bicycle Co.’s own Limited Warranty against manufacturing defects, from the date you receive it. It covers the original purchaser and is not transferable.

Standard coverage, on every bike:

  • 5 years, frame and fork: steel, aluminium and titanium frames and forks.
  • 1 year, carbon frame and fork: extended to 2 years under ProBuild, below.
  • 1 year, components: non-consumable parts — crankset, pedals, bars, stem, seatpost, wheels, hubs and carbon forks.
  • 18 months, eBike system: motor, electronics and battery.

ProBuild: optional, free, and worth doing
ProBuild is not something you buy and it is not required for your warranty to be valid. It is an upgraded tier State unlocks when any professional bike shop assembles the bike and you register it with State within 30 days of delivery. Your local shop counts.

What is not covered
Normal wear and tear on any bike: tires, tubes, chains, brake pads, grips, bar tape, saddles, spokes, and paint or cosmetic finish. Nor is crash and impact damage, improper assembly or adjustment, lack of maintenance, modifications, or incompatible parts. Shop labour is the rider’s responsibility under either tier. RAW finish steel frames are not covered against rust — that is the finish behaving as intended.

Sizes overlap on purpose. Between two, the smaller rides more upright and the larger stretches you out. Cranks, bars and stem are sized to the frame, so the fit is built in rather than bolted on after.

Carbon Road SL Overview

The State Bicycle Co. Carbon Road SL with the 1x Aero Package is the most race focused build in the Carbon Road line. The frame is the Super Light one: 820g on a size medium in a T800 and T1000 layup, around 300 grams under the standard Carbon Road, finished raw under a UV protective coat with minimal oil slick decals. The drivetrain is fully wireless SRAM Rival XPLR AXS 13 speed on a 48T aero crank State developed with SRAM and sells nowhere else. No front derailleur, one battery, and around 150g less again than the SL 2x.

The fully integrated carbon cockpit is in the box, a one piece bar and stem at 360g that the standard build sells as a $249.99 upgrade. You choose the wheels: DT Swiss A1800 Spline alloy at $3,450.00, for a complete bike of about 17 lb 3 oz on a medium, or ENVE AR40 or Zipp 404S carbon for $1,000 more, at about 16 lb 9 oz. Every build shifts the 48T ring across a 10 to 46T cassette and stops on Rival hydraulic discs.

Skip it if you want a front derailleur and the tighter steps of a 2x cassette for fast group rides: the Carbon Road SL 2x is the same frame with Rival AXS 2x12 for $200 less. And if the last 300 grams are not worth the money to you, the Carbon Road Panda Pearl 1x Aero is the same drivetrain on the standard frame for $2,999.99.

Standards you can build on

A T47 threaded bottom bracket rather than press fit, so it is stiffer, the bearings last longer and it threads out at home. A Universal Derailleur Hanger any shop can order. A tapered 1 1/8 to 1 1/2 inch head tube on an FSA No.55 headset, a carbon seatpost with 0mm setback, and the integrated carbon cockpit, both included.

THE CRANK YOU CANNOT BUY ANYWHERE ELSE

State worked directly with SRAM on a custom 48T aero crank for the Rival XPLR groupset, available only through State Bicycle Co. It is not a catalogue part. The aero profile cuts drag, the 48T ring suits road and mixed surface riding, and against the 13 speed 10 to 46T cassette it gives a wide, even range with no front derailleur in the way.

It is the same 1x aero setup pro riders run in the spring classics, on the lightest frame State makes: T800 and T1000 carbon at 820g, raw under a UV coat, with aero road shaping, fully internal routing and a 396g full carbon fork.

ONE RING, ONE BATTERY, COCKPIT INCLUDED

The drivetrain is SRAM Rival XPLR AXS, fully wireless, thirteen speeds from a single 48T ring across a 10 to 46T cassette on a SRAM Flat-Top chain. One rear derailleur, one EP Powerpack battery, nothing to stretch, contaminate or drift out of index.

The integrated carbon cockpit ships fitted. One piece, 360g against 540g for the alloy bar and stem on the standard build, with every cable inside it, in 38cm by 90mm on XS and S, 38cm by 100mm on M, and 40cm by 110mm on L and XL. Cranks are 165mm on XS to M and 170mm on L and XL.

Questions before buying

What is different about the SL 1x Aero?

Two things stack up. The SL frame is a T800 and T1000 carbon layup at 820g on a size medium, around 300 grams under the standard Carbon Road, left raw under a UV coat, and it ships with the integrated carbon cockpit fitted. Then the 1x Aero Package swaps Rival AXS 2x12 for Rival XPLR AXS 1x13: a single 48T aero crank State developed with SRAM, a 10 to 46T cassette, one rear derailleur and one battery, around 150g lighter again.

Which wheelset should I choose?

The DT Swiss A1800 Spline is the standard build: a 30mm aero alloy rim on the 370 hub, 1,691g and tubeless ready, for a complete bike State lists at about 17 lb 3 oz on a medium. The ENVE AR40 is a 40mm full carbon rim at 1,515g, and the Zipp 404S a 50mm carbon rim at 1,585g. Either carbon set takes the bike to about 16 lb 9 oz and adds $1,000. The frame is the same in every case.

Is the cockpit adjustable?

The bar and stem are one piece, so the width and length are fixed per size: 38cm by 90mm on XS and S, 38cm by 100mm on M, and 40cm by 110mm on L and XL. State sized them with professional fitters to match each frame. Stack is adjusted with spacers as normal.

Are pedals included?

No. The Carbon Road SL ships without pedals and takes any standard 9/16 inch threaded pedal, so you can fit the system you already ride.

Does it come assembled?

No. Unless State’s Pro Build is added, it arrives from Phoenix, Arizona, as boxed parts and needs professional assembly before riding. State’s Pro Build assembles and safety checks it with the wireless drivetrain paired, calibrated and firmware updated, and adds one to two weeks. Ask us before you order if you want it.

What size should I get?

State lists the XS 45cm for riders 4 foot 11 to 5 foot 3, the S 48cm for 5 foot 3 to 5 foot 6, the M 51cm for 5 foot 6 to 5 foot 9, the L 54cm for 5 foot 9 to 6 foot 1, and the XL 56cm for 6 foot 1 to 6 foot 3. Sizes overlap on purpose. Between two, the smaller rides more upright and the larger stretches you out.
